Mr Eric de Formanoir de la Cazerie assumed office as First President of the Cour de cassation of Belgium on 19 April 2024.
Mr Eric de Formanoir de la Cazerie joined the Brussels Bar in 1993. He joined the Brussels public prosecutor's office in 1997 as a deputy and then as first deputy. He was then appointed deputy attorney general at the auditor general’s office of the Brussels labour court.
First President de Formanoir de la Cazerie has been a member of the Cour de cassation since 2016 and he specialises in criminal law and labour law. He has been a member of the editorial board of the Revue de droit pénal et de criminologie since 2021.
